Criminal Investigation Department (CID) launched an investigation over the security breach that occurred at a meeting attended by President Maithripala Sirisena at a recent the SLFP meeting Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told Asian Mirror.
The meeting was held at Angunakolapelassa, Hambantota, on Saturday (25). An individual who was said to be a security officer of MP Namal Rajapaksa was found to be bearing a gun at the meeting.
President’s Security Division (PSD) had missed the person in the security check. When PSD found this fact, he was removed from the premises immediately.
Meanwhile speaking to media MP Namal Rajapaksa said that he was unaware about such incident.
Adding that no one has informed him of such an incident, he said that he does not want to breach the security of the President as he knows the protocol.
