Update 2: Voting Begins On 19th Amendment

Voting began on the 19th Amendment in Parliament a short while ago after Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe delivered the winding-up speech.

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa presides the session. Voting is taken by naming.

Both SLFP and UNP has decided to support the 19th Amendment.

Independent MP Ajith Kumara, who is a member of the Frontline Socialist Party, decided to abstain from voting. Meanwhile, the MPs who support former president Mahinda Rajapaksa also were seen voting in favor of the amendment. Even MP Namal Rajapaksa voted for the 19th Amendment.
