Sacred Bone Relics Of Buddha To Arrive From Myanmar

Sacred Bone Relics of the Buddha will arrive in Sri Lanka from Myanmar on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at midnight on Flight TG 307, for exposition during the Vesak period.

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera will receive the delegation from Myanmar accompanying the relics headed by the Ven. U Nayana Wun Tha at the Airport.

Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha will be kept in Sri Lanka until 08 June 2015, and will be on display for the public in nineteen locations across the island.

Most Ven. Daranagama Kusaladhamma Thero, the President of the Buddhist Channel and the Principal of the Sri Sambodhi Dhamma School is already in Myanmar and will accompany the relics to Sri Lanka.

The purpose of the visit is to give a rare opportunity to the Sri Lankan people to worship the Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha during the Vesak period.

The relics are housed at the Mandalay Museum in Myanmar.
