Police Use Tear Gas On Protesting Monks Near UGC

Police on Wednesday (29) used teargas on Buddhist monks affiliated to the Inter University Bhikku Federation who marched from Fort Railway Station to University Grants Commission demanding immediate solutions to their problems.

The protest was organized against the alleged reduction of the number of monks admitted to universities.

The student monks tried to enter forcefully in to UGC premises after breaking off the gate and barriers, reports said.

Both students and the police reportedly sustained injuries during the clash.
