The opening of the office of the International Arbitration Centre, which was scheduled to be held this afternoon under the auspices of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.
The Ministry of Justice made this announcement releasing a media statement this morning.
The office of the International Arbitration Centre was to be opened in at the World Trade Centre in Colombo.
The Sri Lankan government decided to set up the International Arbitration Centre with the aim of positioning Sri Lanka as an international arbitration hub in the region.
Through this center, it is expected that international companies would be able to resolve any commercial-related disputes.
The Cabinet of Ministers recently gave approval to a proposal made by Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe to start a government company to carry out the activities of this center efficiently and successfully.
