Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that Pakistan's economic ties and trade linkages with Sri Lanka must be further strengthened for the benefit of their people.
The Prime Minister stated this while talking to Pakistan's newly appointed High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shakeel Hussain at the PM House in Islamabad.
The designated High Commissioner thanked the government for reposing confidence in him, a PM Office statement said.
Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena concluded a successful state visit to Pakistan early last month, barely three months into his term as president. The two countries signed several agreements with the aim of furthering the friendly relations among them.
The two leaders discussed the need to expand bilateral trade when they held discussions in Islamabad.
