Former Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade Johnston Fernando was summoned to the Financial Crimes Investigations Division, Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told Asian Mirror.
He was summoned on complaints of financial fraud at Sathosa. Fernando had allegedly taken goods from Sathosa without making payments.
Johnston Fernando was also questioned by Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption summoned in early March on his assets. He was once again questioned by Bribery Commission on March 31.
Upon leaving the Bribery Commission on March 31, Fernando hit out at the government, alleging that he has been a target of politically motivated accusations.
