Police is seeking public assistance for the investigations pertaining to the assault on Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri and Dr. Kusum Kumudu Kumara near a May Day rally in Kirulapone, Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told Asian Mirror.

Anyone with information is requested to contact the Kirulapone OIC at 011-2514634, ASP Gunasekara said.

Dr. Dewasiri and Dr. Kumara were assaulted near Lalith Athulathmudali Ground in Kirulapone on May 1 while a May Day rally was being held in the ground. ASP Gunasekara said that police officers who were on security duty nearby came to the rescue and directed Dewasiri and Kumara to Kirulapone Police Station.

Dr. Dewasiri filed a complaint at Kirulapone Police Station and investigations are ongoing, Gunasekara said.
