A protest will be held in front of Fort Railway Station on Thursday (07) at 3pm, against the assault on Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri  and Dr. Kumudu Kusum Kumara.

Several civil organizations including National Movement for Social Justice, Purawasi Balaya and Aluth Parapura will join with the protest, a convener told ‘Asian Mirror’

“These kinds of attacks should not happen in the future. We would like to invite all citizens who are against injustice to join with us” he said.

Former FUTA President and current media spokesperson Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri and Dr Kumudu Kusum Kumara were assaulted by a group of people near a May Day Rally in Kirulapone on the evening of May 1. The rally was organized by pro-Mahinda Rajapaksa faction of UPFA, including Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, National Freedom Front (NFF) and Democratic Left Front (DLF).
