Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna stated that it has nothing against the visit of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry or any other foreign delegate.

Speaking to local media, JVP Western Provincial Council Member K.D. Lalkantha insisted that the most important fact is the position of the elected government of the country.

He made this observation in response to a comment by National Freedom Front Leader Wimal Weerawansa on the JVP’s apparent silence on John Kerry’s visit. At the “Arise with Mahinda” rally at Kurunegala on May 8, Weerawansa slammed the JVP for its change of stance on such matters.

Earlier, JVP was shouting about any such visit, Weerawansa said, and asked if it was being silent due to U.S. or Indian influence.
