The soldier who had allegedly entered a meeting attended by the President last month at Angunakolapelassa was arrested and remanded till May 19, police sources said.
Corporal Senaka Kumara, attached to the Commando Unit, was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department on May 2 and produced before the Agunukolapelassa Magistrate.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recently launched an investigation over the security breach that occurred at a meeting attended by President Maithripala Sirisena at a recent the SLFP meeting at Angunakolapelassa.
Meanwhile, UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa said yesterday that the corporal carried a water bottle and not a firearm.
