Over 40 Refugees Come Back Home From Tamil Nadu

Over 40 refugees today(13) left for Sri Lanka from Tamil Nadu and Tiruchirappali under the aegis of UN Refugee Agency, authorities said.

Housed in camps spread across Tamil Nadu including Gumidipoondi near Chennai, 25 of them boarded a flight from the Chennai International Airport and the rest from Tiruchirappalli.

The exact number of refugees who left from the central Tamil Nadu town of Tiruchirappalli could not be confirmed immediately though it was reported to be over 15.

Airport authorities here said the voluntary repatriation was facilitated by the United Nations' Refugee Agency.

Over one lakh Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka live in Tamil Nadu. Out of them about 65,000 live in 107 camps spread across the state.
