Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Y K Sinha today called on Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy, and expressed that time zones between India and Sri Lanka should be tapped for IT and IT enabled services industry.
Sinha was received by Electricity and Education Minister T Thiagarajan at the Chief Minister's Chamber an official release, said and described the meeting between the leaders as a "courtesy call".
He is on a brief visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Participating in a conference organised by India-ASEAN -Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday in Chennai, Sinha said the same time zone between India and Sri Lanka should be utilised for boosting trade ties in the Information Technology and IT enabled Services industry.
Similar time zones between India and Sri Lanka should be tapped for IT and IT enabled services industry, he said.
According to him, the trade between the two countries last year was at around USD 4.5 billion.
