Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa was further remanded till May 27 by the Kaduwela Magistrate this morning.

Rajapaksa was arrested on April 22 by police Financial Crimes Investigations Division under the Offenses Against Public Properties Act for alleged financial fraud at the Divineguma Department.

Former Economic Development Ministry Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka and Divi Naguma Project Director R.A.A.K Ranawaka were also arrested on April 22.

The main charge against them is the misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs 70 million in the Divi Naguma Fund.
