At least four ministers who are members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will resign today from their ministerial posts, informed political sources said.
Accordingly, State Minister of Housing and Samurdhi Dilan Perera, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, State Minister of Public Administration and Democratic Governance C. B. Ratnayake and State Minister of Environment Pavithra Wanniarachchi have reportedly decided to resign from their ministerial posts.
Asian Mirror also learns that at least one more minister is also likely to resign. However, a final decision has not yet been taken.
These ministers were appointed on March 22 when the UNP-SLFP national government was formed. However, several of these ministers were known to be supporters of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa. Dilan Perera, who is also the Media Spokesman of the SLFP, recently criticized Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in very strong terms.
