Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe on Thursday (25) stated that the government could provide an official residence to former president Mahinda Rajapaksa other than the president's house.

Addressing the parliament Wickremasinghe further said that Rajapaksa was specially provided with super luxury bulletproof Benze car and a BMW jeep with fuel among other vehicles provided to him.

Apart from vehicles the former president was also provided more than 200 Army and police personnel including STF in order to ensure the protection of him, the PM asserted.

Addressing the parliament on June 24 Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Leader Dinesh Gunawardena accused the government of failing to provide facilities to the former president.
