The Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFe) yesterday handed over a report to the Elections Commissioner stating that the Elections Laws have been violated in Badulla district by some parties who had conducted illegal political rallies on the day the political parties handed over their nominations. The rallies had reportedly taken place in the Badulla, Bandarawela, Welimada and Mahiyanganaya areas.

Photojournalist of 'The Nation' newspaper, Rukshan Abeywansha, who was severely injured in a road accident nearly two months ago, won the award for best Photo-Journalist of the year - 2013 at the Journalism Awards For Excellence organised by the Sri Lanka Press Institute yesterday. The award was accepted by his wife and parents on his behalf.
