Popular actor Vishwa Kodikara was fined Rs. 5,000 after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine.
Mount Lavinia Magistrate Kanchana Neranjala Silva imposed the fine today (17).
Kodikara was among five people arrested with narcotics during a raid conducted at a popular beachfront restaurant last night (16), following a tip-off received by the Wellawatte Police.
The suspects were produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today.
The prosecution informed court that 1,050 milligrams of cocaine had been found in Kodikara’s possession at the time of his arrest.
The Magistrate warned Kodikara and the others that they would be directed to rehabilitation if they appeared before court again on similar charges.
