Lanka Sama Samaja Party Mawanella Electorate Organizer Chandana Jayasinghe allegedly assaulted a local businessman recently, according to a complaint filed by the businessman at the Mawanella Police.

The politician's supporters have also attacked the businessman's wife and eight-year-old daughter.

The alleged assault took place at around 9.30p.m. on Sunday, following the businessman's demands that the politician pay some money he is owed.

The businessman, who runs a rent-a-car company, has rented a vehicle to the politician and the latter had defaulted the payment of the rent.

Following the assault, the businessman was admitted to the Mawanella hospital. The family was attacked when they were returning home from the hospital.

The politician also admitted himself to the hospital, alleging that he was assaulted by the businessman.
