Former Minister and UPFA Parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardena sent letters of demand to the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (Lake House) and Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, demanding Rs. 500 million.
The Parliamentarian alleged that the state run newspaper company and the Finance Minister had distorted his remarks before the Presidential Commission to Investigate into the Bond Issue.
Gunawardena demanded Rs. 200 million from the state newspaper company and Rs. 200 million from the Finance Minister.
He said both parties had distorted his statement before the commission with a malicious intent of tarnishing his reputation.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo this morning, the former Minister explained that he appeared before the commission in good faith and did not intend to utter a lie.
