Former President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), Saliya Pieris, has reached out to Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the anticipated Presidential candidate of the National People’s Power (NPP), highlighting the public's strong desire for genuine change. In a Facebook post, Saliya Pieris highlights AKD’s  victory as a tribute to millions seeking a country free from corruption, cronyism, and favoritism.

While acknowledging AKD’s likely election, He cautioned Anura to learn from the downfall of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, whose earlier success was undermined by unmet public expectations. 

Salıya Pieris urged Anura Kumara Dissanayake to embrace a unifying role as President, reminding him that nearly half of the electorate did not vote for him. He emphasized the importance of exercising the vast powers of the Executive Presidency with public responsibility.
