The United National Party (UNP) announced plans to form a common alliance with all opposition political parties ahead of the upcoming elections.

This decision made up during a leadership meeting at the political office of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe in Colombo.

Ranil proposed the initiative, instructing party officials to invite all opposition groups, including the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), to collaborate in addressing current political challenges and the electoral landscape.
