K.M.M. Siriwardena has officially resumed his role as Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, Policy Formulation, Planning, and Tourism today, September 25. The event was attended by Deputy Secretaries of the Treasury and senior officials from the ministry.
With over 30 years of experience at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, K.M.M. Siriwardena previously served as Deputy Governor, as well as Assistant Governor and Director of the Economic Research Department. His extensive background also includes a stint at the International Monetary Fund as Alternate Executive Director for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Bhutan from July 2017 to October 2019.
He has held key positions within the Ministry of Finance, including Director General of the Fiscal Policy Department. He is a recognized figure in several institutions, having served on the boards of entities such as the Bank of Ceylon and the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC.
He holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Kelaniya, alongside a rich portfolio of published research in economic studies.
