The Election Commission has issued a gazette notification outlining the allocation of Members of Parliament (MPs) for the upcoming parliamentary election.

Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake said that the 2024 voter registry will serve as the basis for determining the number of MPs per district. Each district is required to submit a nomination list, accompanied by a deposit of 2,000 rupees for each nomination.

The Colombo district is permitted to submit up to 18 nominations.
Recognized political parties are exempt from the deposit requirement.
