The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) plans to analyze potential reductions in electricity tariffs for consumers. CEB Chairman Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya said that the findings of this analysis will be presented to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.
Currently, the Public Utilities Commission's term has expired, with new members expected to be appointed following the formation of the new Parliament. Dr. Siyambalapitiya noted that regular tariff analyses, which should ideally occur four times a month, have not been conducted consistently.
He reaffirmed the government's efforts to reducing electricity tariffs to alleviate the financial burden on the public during these challenging times.
