The Human Rights Commission has requested the Department of Examinations to submit a report by next Friday regarding the recent leak of the Grade 5 Scholarship Exam's first question paper before the examination. This request followed a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Education and the Department of Examinations held yesterday.
The Commission highlighted the importance of addressing concerns related to the leak, focusing on the violation of children's human rights and the disruption caused by the need for students to retake the exam. Numerous complaints have been lodged by parents of affected children with the Human Rights Commission.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has directed education authorities to conduct an immediate independent investigation and provide a comprehensive report on the matter.
