Former Minister Kumara Welgama has died at the age of 74 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.

Born on April 5, 1950, Welgama was a prominent politician, serving as a Member of Parliament for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya from the Kalutara District. He was first elected to Parliament in 1984 as a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and held several ministerial positions throughout his career, including Minister of Industrial Development and Minister of Transport.
