A police officer and another individual have been arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe in the form of a liquor bottle valued at Rs. 3,640.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is currently investigating the incident. Reports shows that the officer requested the liquor bottle as a bribe to expedite paperwork related to vouchers help in arresting drunk drivers.
The arrests took place at the Kolonnawa police station, where the officer was stationed, along with a worker from a cleaning service. Both suspects are scheduled to appear before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
