The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has issued an urgent reminder to all taxpayers to complete their final income tax payments for the Year of Assessment 2023/2024 by September 30, 2024.
The IRD noted that any failure to meet this deadline will incur penalties and interest charges, which will not be waived or reduced. Taxpayers are also reminded to settle all outstanding default taxes by October 30, 2024. Unpaid default taxes after this date will be subject to strict collection actions, including potential legal proceedings, in accordance with the Inland Revenue Act.
W.A. Sepalika Chandrasekara, Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, emphasized the importance of meeting these deadlines to avoid legal complications. For more information, taxpayers can contact the IRD at 1944 or visit their nearest Regional Office.
