Former Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage has drawn parallels between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's recent decisions and those of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa following his election. He said that Anura’s actions, such as the redistribution of 993 vehicles from the President’s Office and changes to employee benefits, echo Gotabaya’s early governance style.
He highlighted the challenges of meeting public expectations, suggesting that the difficulties faced by Rajapaksa's administration may resurface under Dissanayake.
Aluthgamage also announced efforts to form a broad opposition coalition, led by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, to prepare for the upcoming General Election.
He clarified that Ranil Wickremesinghe will not seek election or a parliamentary seat through the National List.
