Masatsugu Asakawa, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), congratulated Anura Kumara Dissanayake on his election as the new President of Sri Lanka. Asakawa warmly welcomed Dissanayake as the ADB Governor for Sri Lanka, commending the country for conducting a peaceful and orderly election.

Highlighting the longstanding partnership between ADB and Sri Lanka since 1966, Asakawa acknowledged the Bank's critical support during the Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic crisis. He noted ADB’s role in providing budgetary assistance aimed at strengthening reforms and supporting vulnerable populations.

Asakawa expressed confidence in Anura’s leadership to stabilize the economy and promote a more inclusive and sustainable future.
