Government to Investigate Politically Affiliated Diplomatic Appointments

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an investigation into diplomatic appointments made to relatives and associates of politicians during the previous administration. 

Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath announced the initiative in a media briefing, saying the need for transparency in the appointment process.

Minister Herath confirmed that the Foreign Ministry is compiling a comprehensive report on these appointments and has instructed officials to provide detailed findings. He said that while the government intends to recall individuals appointed based on political connections, the process will take time and will not occur immediately.
