The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has directed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate a false medical report about President Anura Kumara Dissanayake that circulated online during the recent presidential election.

The report, which falsely claimed that President Dissanayake was suffering from an illness, was posted on the internet and has since been flagged as fabricated. The court has instructed the CID to conduct a thorough investigation, identify and arrest the person responsible, and produce them in court.

The investigation follows a complaint from lawyer Sunil Watagala, who stated that the fake report was uploaded by an individual identified as Subhash. The CID informed the court today that an inquiry is actively underway.
