Police said the Taliban launched an attack outside the Afghan parliament on Monday, the Associated Press reports.
The militants set off four large bombs as lawmakers were meeting inside, the news agency said. Police officer Mohammad Asif told the AP that gunfire had broken out and that there was no immediate word on casualties.
The independent Pajhwok news agency reported that a group of suicide bombers stormed the lower house of the building in the capital of Kabul while a general session was underway, according to eyewitnesses.
The eyewitnesses said explosives were set off at the gate, followed by gunfire, the news agency said.
The Khaama Press news agency reported that members of parliament were seen leaving the house in TV footage, and that security forces have cordoned off the area.
