Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne told media that he visited Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa since he is an 'old friend'.

Senaratne visited Basil Rajapaksa on Saturday evening after he was admitted to a private hospital, following his realease on bail. He visited Rajapaksa with Gampaha District Parliamentarian Lasantha Alagiyawanna. Basil Rajapaksa is also a parliamentarian of the Gampaha District.

Basil Rajapaksa was arrested on April 22 on alleged financial fraud in Divi Neguma Department during his term as Economic Development Minister. He was admitted to the prison hospital due to health reasons. Later he was transferred to the paying wards at colombo National Hospital.

Rajapaksa was released on bail on June 15. He was later admitted to Durdans Hospital, Colombo 3.
