Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa condemned the terrorist attack on Afghan Parliament which claimed several lives and injured at least 21 others.

Posting on his Twitter handle, Rajapaksa said: "Attack on Afghan Parliament during the holy month of Ramadan shows the inhumanity of terrorists. My prayers are with the Afghan people."

The attack, which took place yesterday, claimed the lives of five people. All seven attackers were killed in the attack.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack which took place while the parliament was in session.
