Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, a short while ago, ruled out the Opposition Leader's argument against the adjournment debate on the 20th Amendment, saying that the debate could go ahead.
Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva raised his objection when the parliament convened today to start the adjournemtn debate as agreed at the Party Leaders' meeting yesterday.
At a press conference yesterday, de Silva said that they were opposed to the adjournment debate as the parliament cannot debate the Gazette Notification at least two weeks after it was published.
Meanwhile, the JVP expressed its support to the debate.
