CJ Appoints Special Trial-At-Bar To Try Duminda Silva

Chief Justice K. Sripavan has appointed a special trial-at-bat to try MP Duminda Silva and several other suspects who were accused of killing Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra a short while ago.

Chief Justice made this decision upon a request of the Attorney General‘s Department.

The special Trail-at-Bar will comprise the three High Court Judges including Shiran Gunaratne and Padmini Ranawaka.

Premachandra, who was an adviser to former President, and three others including his bodyguards were killed during a shootout with the same party supporters of MP Duminda Silva, who was also critically injured.

The incident took place in Mulleriyawa on October 08, 2011, during the local government election.
