Dr. Abdul Kalam To Meet President Sirisena Today

Former President of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday night (25) on a three-day visit, the Foreign  Ministry said.
 
Former Indian President is visiting Sri Lanka from June 25 to June 27 at the invitation of Minister of Power and Energy, Champika Ranawaka, to participate in the Energy Symposium to be held at the Colombo Hilton on the 26th of June.
 
 Dr. Kalam is also expected to meet the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on June 26.  Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will host Dr. Kalam to lunch on the same day.
 
He was a renowned physicist and a space scientist before he became President of India in 2002. After serving a term of 5 years, he returned to civilian life of education, writing, and public service.
 
He is cheduled to address over 1500 students from schools and universities while participating as the Chief Guest in a programme titled 'Future Leaders of Sri Lanka' at the BMICH on 26th June at 11:30 a.m. 
 
The Energy Symposium is organized with the objective facilitating an exchange of knowledge among energy policy makers, researchers, academia, and industry; who seek solutions to problems of energy economy, sustainability of resources, and effectiveness of energy use in the economy.
