Former JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe launched his new party this morning at New Town Hall in Colombo.

Interestinghly, this inaugural party convention is held only a day after the dissolution of the parliament.

Amarasinghe, who led the party after the defeat of its second insurrection in 1989, handed over the leadership to Anura Kumara Dissanayake in 2014.

He left JVP in April this year.
