Elections Department is to spend about 4000 million rupees for the forthcoming general election which is scheduled to be held in August, Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya on Saturday (27) stated.
Addressing a press briefing Deshapriya further said that the election will be held under the 2014 electoral registry.
Moreover applications for postal voting will be received from July 03 to 14, he added. The EC also said that there will be no police transfers after July 6 without his permission.
Speaking about G.C.E Advanced Level Examination which is scheduled to be held in August Deshapriya asserted that to ensure minimal disruption to the exam, schools will not be used as counting centers for parliamentary elections.
There will be no impact to grade five scholarship exams to be held on August 23 from the election, he told.
