Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya will meet the secretaries of recognized political parties on July 2 to discuss on the forthcoming general election.

According to election law, the parties should inform the Commissioner if they plan to contest within a week of the announcement of the election.

Meanwhile, parties should also discuss with the Commissioner within one week if there is any change of electoral symbols.

The meeting on July 2 will focus on these issues and other preliminary details on the election campaign.
