President Ranil Wickremesinghe is set to depart for India this morning to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi, who has been re-elected as the Prime Minister of India for a third term. The ceremony, scheduled for this afternoon at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, follows an official invitation extended by the Government of India.

Alongside President Wickremesinghe, leaders from Bangladesh, the Maldives, Seychelles, Bhutan, Nepal, and Mauritius are also confirmed to be in attendance. Modi secured his third term by winning 54.2% of the votes in the recent general elections.
