Teachers and Principals to Protest Over Salary Discrepancies

Members of the teachers' and principals' unions, represented by the Ceylon Teachers' Union (CTU), are set to hold island-wide protests today demanding a resolution to ongoing salary discrepancies.

CTU General Secretary Joseph Stalin stated that despite numerous requests to the Ministry of Education, no favorable solution has been implemented. A ministerial committee has presented recommendations to resolve the issue, but Stalin claims the government is postponing the implementation until next year.

The protests will commence at 2 PM and will take place around all zonal education offices, including GCE Ordinary Level examination paper marking centers. Stalin noted that nearly 30 teacher-principal unions will participate in the demonstrations.
