A three-day workshop for members of the 10th Parliament of Sri Lanka begins today (25), aimed at enhancing their knowledge and understanding of parliamentary responsibilities and processes.
Parliamentary General Secretary Kushani Rohanadheera said that the sessions will run daily from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Speaker Dr. Ashoka Ranwala, and the General Secretary are expected to attend the inaugural event.
The workshop will cover a wide range of topics, including the responsibilities of MPs, parliamentary privileges, the law-making process, committee procedures, standing orders, and constitutional provisions. A practical session on using the electronic voting system will also be conducted.
Additionally, MPs will be briefed on the Bribery Act, including the formation and duties of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, as well as the responsibilities of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.
