A controversial booklet "Me genath sithanna, pakshaya rekaganna" (Think about this, protect the party) was distributed at a recent Sri Lanka Freedom Party, creating serious divisions within the party. It was apparently written by Minister S. B. Dissanayake. However, both the SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and its National Organizer Susil Premajayantha refused to sanction it as official party position. Nevertheless, S. B. Dissanayake later told media that the booklet was printed with President Maithripala Sirisena's approval.

The booklet describes the 'mistakes' of the party and is an apparent criticism of the pro-Rajapaksa camp. It is intended to be distributed at the party grass-root level, where support for former president Mahinda Rajapaksa still remains strong.
