The hearing of UPFA MP Basil Rajapaksa’s bail application was set for June 15 by Colombo High Court a short while ago.

Rajapaksa was arrested on April 22 by police Financial Crimes Investigations Division and charged under the Offenses Against Public Property Act. The main charge against him is the misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs 70 million from the Divi Naguma Fund.

He is currently in remand custody. On May 27, the Kaduwela Magistrate remanded him further till June 10.
