Tamil Progressive Alliance leader Mano Ganesan stated that his party vehemently opposes the 20th Amendment as approved by the Cabinet last night.
Speaking to Asian Mirror, Ganesan said that he was amazed at the sudden change of the number of MPs from 255 to 225. He added that the President had suggested a system with 255 MPs, to which the TPA did not oppose.
Ganesan added that TPA member in the Cabinet Palani Digambaram opposed the formula during last night’s meeting.
TPA demands a system with 150 MPs selected through the First Past the Post System, 75 through District Proportional Representation and 25 through the national list.
