Southern Province Fisheries Minister D.V. Upul was further remanded till June 15 by Colombo Magistrate Courts a short while ago.
The CID arrested him on June 8 following nearly eight hours of questioning on a controversial statement he recently made.
At a recent meeting in Hambantota, Upul threatened that he is waiting for the return of Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister so that he could watch the police officers of the Financial Crimes Investigations Division being stoned to death.
The CID was assigned to investigate into the controversial statement. Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara recently said that an individual could be sent to a maximum of seven years in prison if he was proven guilty of making such a death threat.
