Fundamental Rights Petition Of 'Buddha Tattoo Woman' Reserved For Order

The Supreme Court today reserved for order a Fundamental Rights Petition filed by British tourist Naomi Coleman who sought a compensation of Rs.10 million for alleged illegal arrest and detention by Sri Lankan authorities for displaying a Buddha tattoo on her right arm on April 21, 2014 at the Katunayake airport.

Furthermore, all parties were asked to submit written submissions within one month.

Naomi Coleman was arrested at the Katunayake International Airport after the tattoo on her right arm was spotted by Airport authorities.
